This extension is used by Open Transport to allow access to the built-in Ethernet port on your computer. This driver is also used by the Power Macintosh G3 built-in Ethernet interface. When using the 2.0 driver, data corruption could occur when utilizing the built-in Ethernet interface where the system was connected to an Ethernet network with a significant traffic load. In addition, when connected to an auto-sensing 10/100 Mb Ethernet hub or switch, the Power Macintosh G3 Desktop and Minitower computer may fail to attach to the network. The 2.0.1 driver fixes these two problems. Note that this software is not needed for the PowerBook G3. Discard this if you are not on the network.
